Beach-Inspired Eclectic Pool Lounge
The pool lounge in the 2017 HGTV Dream Home is playful and casual and connects the indoors with the outdoors. See the features of this beach-inspired eclectic pool lounge in this HGTV video:
There’s no doubt that this room is meant to be beach inspired; blue is definitely the dominant color. The bluegrass cloth wall covering has the same shade of blue as the pool water. A blue and white striped area rug is super classic and very nautical. The blue sofa is really casual with its rolled arms and is covered in a rich cobalt blue velvet.
Other furniture in the room has a sun-worn look – weather beaten with faded woods and white, giving a nod to things being left out in the wind and the sun.
The main focal point is an art installation made up of painted plywood and drywall screws that depicts a heron out in the local marsh,.
An entire wall of sliding glass doors stacks all the way back to make the entire pool lounge feel open to the outdoors.
The space has a lot of mis-matched items to make it look more collected over time, like a beach house that’s been in the family for generations. A mid-century modern floor lamp sits next to the sofa and adds a nice sculptural quality. The art wall features different styles ranging from graphic art to faux taxidermy to beautiful high-contrast abstract paintings. Two worn leather chairs have a bomber look and add a bit of an industrial touch. The design of the chandelier that grounds the room mimics a jellyfish and provides a little element of fun.
Modern amenities make this lounge a great place to entertain year round. There is a full wet bar complete with a mini-fridge and an integrated sink. A gas fireplace is perfect for the colder months; it’s set into a focal wall that features a pecky cypress mantel and a wall of mosaic marble tile. The flat panel TV hung just above the mantel is ideal for game day.
