Colorful Southern Kitchen Makeover

The kitchen in this vintage New Orleans home had a lot of potential, but it was too dated, and the existing trim was too dark. With five easy DIY projects in one weekend, DIY expert Monica Mangin creates a functional space that exudes southern charm. See the details of this colorful southern kitchen makeover in this Lowe’s video:

1. A new penny white tile backsplash was installed. To add pops of color, randomly selected tiles were replaced with tiles painted with colored enamel ceramic paint.

2. To add drama, the brick surrounding the fireplace was exposed and decorative molding was added all the way up to the ceiling and painted a bold red.

3. The cabinets were topped with crown molding and painted white.

4. An accent wall was created with new poppy patterned wallpaper in shades of red.

5. The inside of the pantry was painted a light gray-green and organized with clear jars, wire bins and baskets.
