Corner Shelving Units Maximize Small Storage Spaces
If you have items you need to store or want to display but are at a loss of where to put them, you might want to take a look at the corners of the rooms in your home. Corner shelving units make the most of small spaces and can be decorative as well as functional. Common shelving materials include metal, glass, wood and wire. If your bookcases are full, consider buying a corner bookcase. A corner bakers rack is not only ideal for kitchens and dining rooms but also a good storage solution for bathrooms; it can also be used as a decorative plant stand.

Ikea’s RÖNNSKÄR Corner Shelf Unit is made of steel and has five removable glass shelves. This contemporary-style corner shelving unit measures 69 1/4 inches in height and 14 5/8 inches in depth/width. It is sold only in Ikea stores. A smaller but more decorative alternative is the Reflections Corner Shelving Unit which has three shelves and an elegant swirl design accented with a small diamond-shaped mirror. It is sold at Overstock.com.
Amazon.com sells a five-tier book wooden corner bookshelf that comes in black and measures 75″ by 16″ by 16″. Overstock.com also sells a five-tier wooden corner bookshelf which measures 63 inches in height and 21 inches in width/depth, comes in cherry, walnut or oak and has five quarter-circle shaped shelves that are spaced 12 inches apart.
The Lenox Corner Bakers Rack by Southern Enterprises is a pewter corner metal rack with three shelves. This unit is 36.75 inches in height and is available from the Gourmet Decor Store. For something in a slightly different style, Overstock.com sells a Scrolled Black Corner Etagere which is made of metal with a black finish and features five shelves in depths ranging from 7 inches at the top to 12 inches on the bottom. This unit is 64.25 inches in height. WalMart sells a 64″ high four-shelf corner bakers rack that is very affordable at $19.99.
Another option to consider is floating shelves. A quadrant set of two corner shelves in a wenge finish with photo openings and a wall hanging corner storage shelving unit with four curved shelves in a black finish are available at Amazon.com.
On a final note, if you already have modular wall shelving units, check to see if a matching corner shelving unit is available. You can either place the unit separately in a corner or adjacent to the end of a bookcase or wall unit.
