How to Make a Hanging Basket Light
Basket weave pendant lights are on trend, but they can be expensive. With just a few tools and materials and a little effort, you can achieve this look on a budget. Learn how to make a hanging basket light in this Wayfair.com video:
For this DIY project, you will need a basket, a hanging light kit, pipe plates (optional depending on the weight of the basker), an eye hook, and a light bulb; for cutting, you will need a scissors, box cutter or a drill and circulat drill bit (depending on the basket material). Most hanging light kits come with a plug, so you do not need an electrician to install this light fixture.
1. Trace the socket, then cut a hole in the bottom of the basket.
2. Slip the socket through the hole in the basket and secure with the socket cover. If you are using a heavier basket, for extra support, use pipe plates to keep the hardware in place.
3. Check to make sure everything is secure, than screw in an energy-sabing LED light bulb.
4. Screw the hook into the ceiling and slip the cord on. A pendant light should be at least 36-48 inches above the table.
