How to Paint a Faux Wood Accent Wall
You don’t need to spend money on paneling to get the look of wood. Learn how to paint a faux wood accent in this video by Pottery Barn:
For this DIY project, you will need the following: paint rollers, tray, liner, brush, mixing buckets, graining comb, graining tool, level, painter’s tape and pencil.
1. Prime walls using a paint roller.
2. Paint the base color using a paint roller.
3. Draw vertical lines using a pencil and level.
4. Mask every other section using painter’s tape.
5. Mix a light glaze using 2 parts clear glaze + 1 part light gray paint.
6. Mix a dark glaze using 2 parts clear glaze + 1 part dark gray paint.
7. Using a brush, apply the light glaze, then the dark glaze.
8. Drag the graining comb through the glaze.
9. Use the graining tool.
10. Remove the painter’s tape and repeat the process on the remaining sections. Let paint dry for 24 hours.
