Small Family Kitchen Makeover

With its working functional layout, this 215 square-foot kitchen just needed a few changes to make it a relaxing place for meals and entertainment. See the details of this small family kitchen makeover in this House & Home video:

No changes were needed to the appliances or countertops. The existing lower cabinets were painted a deep blue to inject a punch of color. The addition of open shelving, extra counter space and a full height pantry provided extra storage.

The wall behind the radiator was painted with magnetic chalkboard paint to create a space for kids’ art and schedules. The island countertop was replaced with a larger overhanging slab to accommodate extra seating.

Other features include the new industrial style door and sconces, pendant lighting over the island, extension of the white subway tile up to the ceiling, and woven wood blinds.
