White walls give you unlimited opportunities to accessorize and decorate. It’s fresh, clean and always in style. If you live in a rental with white walls, just re-paint them and re-decorate to give your space a fresh feel.

To determine how much paint you will need, figure on about one gallon of paint for every 250-400 square feet. Using a primer and painter in one allows you to finish the job with just one coat.

Start by moving the furniture into the center of the room or out of the room altogether and remove everything including the switch plate covers from the walls. Fix any holes in the walls and clean the baseboards. Apply strips of painters tape to the edges of the ceiling and the baseboards.

Start painting around the edges with a brush, brushing and feathering out the edges to hide any brush lines. Once done, paint using a roller in a W motion, going from top to bottom.

Once the paint is dry, you can remove the painters tape and think about decorating. With white walls, you can go coastal, or glam, or rustic – the possibilities are endless.
