Renter’s Living Room Makeover
This dark living room had bulky furniture and lacked style and was in need of an upgrade, but the catch was no change could be permanent as it was a rental property. With five easy DIY projects in one weekend, DIY expert Monica Mangin transforms this living room into a light, bright space with added storage. See the details of this makeover in this Lowe’s video:
1. Temporary blue-patterned wallpaper brightens the space and covers the red wall.
2. A bedroom dresser with new gold hardware flanked by floating shelves forms a media unit that provides additional storage.
3. DIY framed artwork created from gift bags, wrapping paper and decorative file folders flank the large painting on the gallery wall. Accent pillows were made by painting patterns with fabric paint that doesn’t run and is safe to wash.
4. Painting a bright coral color on the back of the bookshelf unit provides a pop of color.
5. A cornice built from plywood, fabric and decorative gold nailheads adds style and hides the functionality of the vertical blinds on the sliding glass doors.
