Row House First Floor Makeover

The first floor of this traditional row house has a living room, kitchen and breakfast bar, but the space is cluttered and lacks style, design and functionality. With five easy DIY projects in one weekend, DIY expert Monica Mangin transforms this space into a light, bright and sophisticated living area. See the details of this makeover in this Lowe’s video:

The design goal was to update the space but make it timeless so the homeowners won’t have the same problem in ten years.

1. The red subway tile in the kitchen was too dark and dominant and was replaced with white subway tile.

2. Repainting the kitchen walls in a light gray color and the trim in white and replacing the pendant lights over the breakfast bar brighten the space.

3. Outdoor siding was used to create a textured accent wall.

Additional storage was provided through:

4. A large vintage cabinet repainted in green and overhead open shelving

5. A modern media unit built from wood project panels and a pegboard
