The first step is to identify the type of faucet you need to replace in your existing vanity top. Here’s how to install your new faucet.
1. Shut off the water to the valves.
2. Using an adjustable wrench, disconnect the water line.
3. Locate the washer and nut that hold the actual faucet body itself to the countertop. Loosen those and slide the washer off. You should be able to slip the faucet right out. Remove the valves and the old faucet.
4. Clean off the excess putty using a wrapped screwdriver so you don’t scratch your countertop. Wipe off the countertop when finished.
5. Connect the water supply lines to the valves.
6. Install the valves.
7. Attach the handles.
8. Secure the new faucet.
9. Install the new drain assembly.
10. Check all your connections.
11. Turn the water back on and check for leaks. Check each valve to make sure it functions perfectly, then check your p-trap and all the connections below to make sure there are no leaks.
Now you have a beautifully installed faucet that works great and looks even better.
