Downtown Condo Balcony Makeover

If you live in an urban condo, you may have a balcony that has a lot of glass and concrete and lacks character. Designer Joel Bray turned his downtown condo balcony into an urban garden. See the results of the makeover in this House & Home video:

The transformation started with the flooring. Gray-blue slate tiles were applied to an underlying layer of concrete board, which is semi-permanent and can be removed without damage to the building structure.

A frosted glass panel that separates the space from the neighbors was disguised with a square trellis painted in Hague Blue that blends well with the slate tile, and the striped faux awning hides the concrete ceiling.

The marble-topped table and chairs elevate the space, while the matte black bar cart provides much-needed storage for bottles, glassware and extra ice. Two tall cedar plants, a concrete urn with a simple plant and a round mirror mounted on the trellis provide the finishing touches.
