How to Design a Vegetable Garden

With a simple plan, it’s easy to lay out your veggie garden and know where everything is going to go and grow. Learn how to design a vegetable garden in this Lowe’s video:

A simple plan makes vegetable gardening easier. You can do a sketch on a pad or even on a napkin. Just make sure you put down any structures you want, such as raised beds, any seating like benches or chairs, and any pathways.

It’s also important to know your sun and shade patterns in the morning and afternoon. You’ll want to put your veggies in the sunniest location and label that. Consider seasonal differences as the sun shines differently in March than it does in August.

Another thing to think about is crop rotation. For example, if you have tomatoes in one bed this year they need to be rotated around to another bed next year.

Finally, don’t forget to add herbs and flowers to the veggie beds as well.
