Floating Shelves Provide a Unique Display and Storage Solution

Floating shelves, as their name implies, are shelves that appear to float on the wall. Also referred to as bracketless shelves, they have a hidden bracket support system which gives the illusion of no visible supports. The 11 3/4″ size comes in black or white and can hold up to 7 lbs., the 74 3/4″ size comes in white, black-brown or birch effect with a maximum load of 11-33 lbs., and the 43 1/4″ size comes in birch effect, walnut effect, black, black-brown, red or white wirh a maximum load of 11-33 lbs. The maximum load depends on the type of wall and fastening. Prices range from 49.99 to $29.99.

Pottery Barn’s Holman Shelves are made from hardwood and MDF, an engineered wood. They feature a raised front and are designed to display frames and small objects and can be mounted side by side. These shelves come in two, three and four foot widths with a maximum weight capacity ranging from 40 to 70 lbs. A corner shelf 18″ in width and 10″ in depth is also available.

These corner shelves are available in curved, rectangular, square and triangular styles and come in 1/4″ and 3/8″ thickness.
