This fence can be made in sections of eight, ten or twelve feet in length just by changing the length of the slats.
1. Use a level to set the bottom slat. Start at the base and mount the first slat with galvanized tension bands, bolts and nuts. If you’re making multiple sections, be sure to insert the tension bands for the second section while you’re assembling the first because it will be difficult to install them after the first section is built.
2. Make the weave pattern by installing the next slat on the opposite side of the center post as a first. Continue installing slats and weaving your way up the fence, stopping now and then to check for level. You may need a large clamp or a pair of pliers to compress the tension bands while you thread the nut onto the bolt.
3. Continue alternating the slats back and forth on the center post to create a pattern for a total of 20 rows.
4. When all the slats are installed, trim the top post to 1-1/2 inches above the top slat, then top with a post cap.
Your patio now has big style and is ready for entertaining.
