Tips on Accessorizing with Color

Do you have a room with a neutral color palette? You can use accessories to infuse the space with color. Get tips on accessorizing in this Smart Interiors video:

The first order of business is lighting. Lamps add shimmer to a room. If the walls are covered with wallpaper, select a lamp base with a pattern that mimics that of the wallpaper.

Choose a main accent color and repeat it at least three times around the room with accessories such as throws, pillows or vases.

Don’t forget to accessorize high places. When placing accessories, group in odd numbers and create a triangle pattern by placing high, medium and low pieces together.

Add in another layer of color. In the guest bedroom featured in this video, a zebra bench provides a place to take off shoes; the pillow pulls in the zebra bench and adds pop.

If there is a detailed wallpaper pattern in the room, keep the artwork really simple.
