Transformation of an Unused Patio into a Family Oasis
This military family’s patio was in need of a makeover. The dining set was too large and the old chairs too rickety, and the children’s play area didn’t quite fit in. See how designer Kelly Edwards transforms this unused patio into a family oasis in this video by The Home Depot.
The makeover began with a family project – a container vegetable garden – which required 10 bags of potting soil and several large containers. The family planted seedlings of lettuce, tomatoes, basil, and peppers. Marigolds provide color and act as a natural insect repellent.
The addition of a few finishing touches complete this makeover:
- Picnic table
- Seating area with blue upholstered wicker sofa and chairs and matching glass top table
- Kids’ cove
With the addition of a vegetable garden and gorgeous seating, this patio is now a place that the whole family can enjoy all year round.
