Small Space Herb Gardening
Do you love to cook and eat food with fresh herbs? Learn how do your own herb gardening in a small space in this eHow Home video:
Herbs are beautiful, very useful and incredibly fragrant. If you’d like to grow your own herbs, the good news is that you don’t need a a lot of space. The 4-foot square garden featured in this video is a 10-inch tall raised garden bed that was filled with soil that drains well and placed in full sun. It contains 16 plants – a mix of rosemary, chives, parsley, sweet basil, mint, chocolate mint, oregano, and thyme – that were planted one herb per foot.
If you don’t have that much room or time to maintain a garden this size, stacked pots are an alternate and fun way to grow herbs “on the vertical”. The setup featured in this video has an 8-inch pot of rosemary sitting in a 16-inch pot of lemon verbena, which in turn is sitting in a 20-inch pot of lemon thyme. The bottom pot is placed in a saucer to keep them all hydrated. You can come up with your own combination of herbs.
