Powder Room With Linear Pattern and Texture

The powder room in the HGTV 2015 Dream Home is the perfect example of a design that’s all about a play on linear pattern and texture, starting with the walls. See the features in this HGTV video:

To introduce a tone on tone pattern, the walls were painted with two different shades of neutral paint. The horizontal stripe is the perfect contrast to the vertical lines found in the white-painted beadboard below.

Diagonal lines are introduced on the front work underneath the vanity. This is where texture comes into play, because just above the vanity is a countertop made of honed carrara marble.

Just above the mirror are two beautiful mercury glass pendants that add a pop of glamorous texture and complement the roughness of the mirror frame.

If you have a powder room that you want to play up some good design ideas in without going overboard, a mix of neutrals and a play on texture can be the way to go.
