Edgy Brooklyn-Inspired Makeover

The homeowners of this Toronto home wanted a chef’s kitchen for cooking and entertaining, but the small square layout presented a set of challenges for the renovation. See the results of this edgy Brooklyn-inspired makeover in this House & Home video:



The exposed brick in the staircase shows the history of the house and adds interest.

With no space for a separate dining room, the custom-made table seats 10 and pulls out of the and folds into the kitchen island. The choice of the light fixture was important as it had to cover both the island and the table.

Porcelain tile throughout the space creates a look that is warm and cozy but also rough and industrial.

The aesthetic of the main floor continues in the new bathroom with its refinished clawfoot tub. The functional niche has a recessed medicine cabinet, providing additional storage space.
