Master Bedroom Makeover With Bright Accents

This master bedroom had a makeover in 2004 and was on trend, but after 11 years it became a time capsule awash in beige and needed an update. See the second transformation of this room using bright accents in this House & Home video:

For this second transformation, the built-ins added in the first makeover were left untouched; this makeover was more about updating the pallet and the furniture. The goal was to add pops of color, texture and quiet luxury to make the room interesting but quiet.

The starting point was the bed, which takes up most of the room. All of the linens were replaced, and a custom wraparound bed skirt, a large throw with over-sized pompoms and new pillows were added. A patterned headboard and a custom side bench with an iron frame and hide top at the foot of the bed completes the new look.

The bedside tables were replaced with Ikea pieces and layered with mid-century classic lamps. The existing pine dresser was repainted white and the hardware changed out. New drapery panels and layered carpets that soften the look of the honey pine floor provide the finishing touches.
