Area Rugs in Carpeted Rooms

Layered rugs are on really on trend right now and are a great way to add pattern and color to a room, especially if you have a beige carpet. An area rug is especially useful in anchoring a seating arrangement that is floating in the middle of a room.

The rule of thumb for sizing an area rug is that all furniture should fit onto the area rug, or at least the front legs of your seating. You can put a coffee table in the center of the rug and arrange the sofa and chairs around it. Just make sure the seating pieces are either completely on the rug or that the front legs are completely on the rug.
