1. Each plywood panel gets prepped by applying veneer to the edges to give the shelves a finished look.

2. Start by building the base for the unit – a prepped panel with two braces applied to the bottom side.

3. Additional modules each consist of a shelf with a shelf brace running lengthwise and a cross brace that’s cut to fit. These get glued and screwed to the shelf itself. Two legs and an end panel complete the module. Make as many as you need, then you’re ready to start stacking.

4. Attach the first shelving module to the base piece using the process outlined in the detailed directions.

5. Alternate the orientation of the end panels; stack and attach until you have the height you want.

This modular approach lets you build a simple TV stand all the way up to a bookcase with one simple build.
