DIY Small Kitchen Makeover
This small kitchen makeover includes new appliances, range hood, sink and faucet. You will need the following tools for this DIY project: seaming epoxy, putty knife, silicone adhesive, caulking gun, plumber’s putty, hammer, screwdriver, belt sander, drill/driver with hole saw, screwdriver, pry bar, assorted pliers and wrenches, pony clamps and vacuum pump. See the process in this video by This Old House:
Hot and cold water were turned off and the drain and electrical connections broken before removal and replacement of the sink and dishwasher. The old countertops were removed. The cabinets will be repainted at a later time and so were left intact.
Digital templates were created and used for the new polyester/resin countertops. The new countertops were installed, secured with dabs of silicone and aligned with pony clamps. A vacuum pump was used to close the seams, and the excessive adhesive was removed with a belt sander after drying. The same countertop material was used for the backsplash. The range hood fan was mounted to the underside of the cabinet.
