The key is to create dedicated zones which don’t sacrifice function. With a cohesive color palette and layered decorating throughout, you can create impact and style in a small space.

In this studio apartment, a large slipcovered sofa, rocking chair and linen chair define the living area, with a centrally positioned area rug and vintage trunk that serves as a coffee table and storage. The dresser provides not only additional storage but also a display surface for styling and adding personal items that can be changed with the seasons.

A small kitchen island with a warm marble top adds a surface for dining and more storage. The wall of drapery echoes the wall color and unifies the kitchen and living area.

The vertical height of a large four-poster bed almost creates its own sense of space. The bedding is layered with a white duvet cover, white sheets, charcoal coverlet and pillows. A vintage map on the wall adds personality. The wood console at the base of the bed is perfect as a key drop. A runner finishes the entryway look.
