Kitchen Makeover That Balances Contrasting Elements
A balance of contrasting elements lend practicality and style to this once dated kitchen. See the features in this House & Home video:
The old kitchen had melanine cabinets, faux finish on the walls and old appliances which were conking out, which triggered the renovation.
The redesigned kitchen has new flooring, cabinets and countertops as well as a new coat of paint. There is ample display space for both everyday and decor items, along with decorative lighting above the shelf and task lighting underneath.
Additional features of this makeover include:
- New resized island with Caesarstone quartz countertop, Ikea drawer units and the addition of an overhang and custom legs to allow seating for six people
- Energy-efficient induction cooktop with pop-up hood which serves as additional workspace when not in use
- Sink with wire rack that can be positioned halfway to serve as a resting place for hot pots
- Crackle finish subway tile that wraps around the entire room
- Built-in pantries on both sides of the kitchen, one with a built-in refrigerator
- Double wall ovens, with the top oven doubling as a microwave
- Bar area with copper backsplash, upper glass fronted cabinet and lower wine fridge and storage cabinet
- Custom light fixture
The finished kitchen is all about contrast, such as the Ikea cabinetry balanced with brass fixtures.
