How to Arrange Furniture in a Small Living Room

You can successfully decorate a small space with the right accent pieces and furniture placement. Get tips on how to arrange furniture in a small living room in this Better Homes and Gardens video:

Find the best placement for your largest piece of furniture, usually the sofa. If you watch TV in the living room, consider TV placement next. Opt for a slender console instead of a large entertainment center to free up floor space and allow for wider walkways.

Fill in with accent furniture and additional seating. A single table between the chair and sofa provides both seats with space for a lamp and for drinks. Place secondary furniture on the perimeter. An extra chair that can be pulled in when needed and a bookcase that can double as a bar are smart extras.

If the room is long and narrow, divide the room into zones and create two separate furniture arrangements. Set up a primary seating area that accommodates several people. A table and chair ensemble can work as a casual eating spot, a homework station or crafting zone.
