How to Optimize Your Kitchen for Better Storage

Whether you’re designing a new kitchen or modifying your existing one, you can optimize your space for storage. Get ideas from this Better Homes and Gardens video:

Consider how you can change the layout to add more storage cabinets. Enlarging a narrow peninsula can provide room for double-sided cabinets, a cooktop on one side and casual dining on the other.

Use adjustable drawer inserts and pull-out shelves to maximize cabinet storage. Purchase cabinets with custom organizers or add-on options for existing cabinets.

Conceal trash and recycling in centrally located lower cabinets.

Store items close to where they will be used. A shallow drawer under a wall oven keeps baking sheets close at hand. Store cooking essentials in the adjacent pantry.

Put unused space to work by adding an upper cabinet above the refrigerator or stacked drawers by the door for items you need to grab on the way out.
