Tower-Inspired Spa

The Laurentian Library in Florence, Italy, designed and built by Michelangelo, provided the inspiration for this unique bathroom. Designer Eric Cohler presents the highlights of this tower-inspired spa in this Kohler video:

Elements of the past are fused with modern technology in this dramatic bathroom. Soothing earth tones of linens and grays inspired by the Renaissance and the Italian countryside comprise the color scheme, while digital controls for temperature, ambient lighting and music provide a 21st century touch of luxury.

Ann Sacks limestone in linen and azule colors was chosen for the shower. The horizontal line motif creates depth and breadth to the space and makes it feel more organic. The toilet, sink, controls and shower head were selected from several different Kohler suites.

The bathroom was designed so that people walk through the shower on the way to the sink. Niches in the shower provide storage space for soap, shampoo, sponges and personal effects, while an under-sink cart holds towels.
