Multi-Functional Family Room

This large open space basement lacked clearly defined zones and had an unused two-foot niche. See how this basement was transformed into a bright, organized multi-functional family room in this House & Home video:

Features of this basement makeover include:

  • TV area with art wall and a rosewood cabinet topped with marble
  • Bar/kitchenette area created within the two-foot niche with Ikea cabinetry for storage of tableware, cutlery and seasonal items, refrigerator, Ralph Lauren brass sconces, specialty wallpaper and a HanStone quartz countertop
  • Kids area with Ikea STUVA pull-out storage units for toys and bench seating
  • Home office area unified with a continuous piece of kitchen countertop

Open bookcases were replaced with Ikea BESTA closed storage units stacked on each other to make it a quieter space. The white color scheme with pops of color ties everything together.
