Saw Cutting and Staining Techniques for Concrete Driveways

There’s no reason to settle for a plain, gray, boring driveway. It’s very easy to dress up and upgrade a concrete driveway at very little cost. Learn more about saw cutting and staining techniques in this video by ConcreteNetwork.com:

Saw Cutting: Chalk lines are drawn to create a decorative pattern (such as decorative banding). Using a hand masonry or walk behind saw, the pattern is cut just 1/4″ deep into the concrete.

Staining: Once the pattern is cut, color is added by applying acid chemical stains in a variety of different colors. One method is to apply layer upon layer of color, starting by adding a lighter base such as sandstone or tan using misters, then adding darker colors such as dark brown or coffee in larger droplets. Decorative bands can be darkened by going over them with sponges.
