Create an Eye-Catching Leather Lounger From Recycled Materials

Have an old wooden chair? Learn how to create an eye-catching leather lounger from recycled materials in this Buildipedia video:

For this DIY project, you will need a salvaged wooden chair, a pile of thrift shop leather belts, staple gun and utility knife.

1. Sand and refinish the chair.

2. Prep the belts with a leather conditioner and let them dry overnight.

3. Disassemble the chair.

4. Attach the belts. Wrap each belt around the frame and attach it with a staple gun. Leave space between them so they can still be woven. Pull the belt tightly and staple it to the underside of the frame.

5. Weave the belts. You’ll now attach the belts going from the front of the seat to the back. Weave each belt individually and pull tightly. Wrap it around the frame and staple it to the underside. Once the seat is done, use the same process to finish the back of the chair.

6. Trim any excess leather with a utility knife.

7. Re-assemble the frame.

For just a couple of bucks and a few hours, you now have a stunning lounge chair!
