How to Arrange Bedroom Furniture
Before you furnish a bedroom, consider the room’s dimensions, the placement of the room and closet doors and window(s), and the furniture size. Learn how to arrange bedroom furniture in this Better Homes and Gardens video:
The bed is the largest piece of furniture in the room. Typically the bed is placed on the wall opposite bedroom door (which creates a pleasant view when you enter the room) or along the room’s longest wall, which will allow you to put a nightstand on each side of the bed. Next, a large dresser can be placed across from the bed, where it can also function as a TV stand for easy viewing.
Once the bed and dresser are placed, you can add additional furniture as space allows. A bedside table or two provides storage and a surface for a lamp, clock and other items.
Add a small desk and chair outfitted with a mirror for primping or office supplies for writing and filing. An ottoman or bench at the foot of the bed provides seating for putting on shoes.
