Create Your Own Wall Art

Do you ever wonder what you could do with your random bits or artwork and photos? Learn how to make them into a wall display in this video by TheNestTV:

First, get an old frame from a flea market, relative or friend. Sort through your favorite photos and postcards and set them aside.

You will also need the following:

  • X-acto blade
  • Ruler
  • 1 can of paint (pick a color that will blend with your decor)
  • Paintbrushes (1″, 2″)
  • 1 sheet of 1/8″ MDF board
  • 1 roll of cork
  • Glue gun
  • Screwdriver
  • Mounting hardware

1. Turn over the frame and remove the old art using the X-acto blade. You’ll then be able to measure the interior space and know how big the MDF board should be.

2. Turn the frame over again and apply two coats of paint. Use the smaller brush to fill in the cracks and let the frame dry overnight.

3. Lay down the MDF board and get the cork roll ready. Adhere the cork to the board using a hot glue gun, pressing as you go. Trim off any excess.

4. Put it all together by attaching the MDF board with a staple gun, stapling about every three inches. Screw on the mounting elements and arrange your art. Try grouping together similar color schemes and layer the pieces to give it texture. Add personal photos to make it even more special.

Now you’re ready to pick a spot on the wall and show off your masterpiece!
