DIY Woodshed Project

This homeowner’s woodshed was totaled by a strong wind. Watch how this shed is redesigned for storing firewood and tools and rebuilt in this HGTV video:

The design for the new 4’x8′ shed included a level platform with a slatted floor to help keep the wood dry and an interior 2’x4′ closet in the middle.

Basic steps for this woodshed rebuild included:

  • Construction of the 4’x8′ frame and marking the positions of the posts
  • Installation of four 4″x6″ pressure-treated posts into the ground at a depth of 18 inches and pouring in fast-setting high-strength concrete
  • Hanging the floor joists and laying the decking
  • Closing in the closet with a door on the back of the shed
  • Adding a plywood roof with shingles
  • Painting the shed with leftover exterior paint from the house
