Country Kitchen For an Active Family
Kathy Barnes, Country Home editor, takes you on a tour of a kitchen designed for a busy young family in this Kohler video:
The inspiration for this country kitchen was a young mother with children, which dictated the need for sufficient space to accommodate an active, busy family.
At the front door, there are places to store things (shelves, hooks, storage bins) as well as to clean the dog. This entryway serves as a multipurpose drop zone before entering the rest of the house.
This kitchen is a living, working family space. The attached desk and office attached provides a place to store cookbooks and look up recipes as well as a charging station for electronics.
The banquette is a welcoming place forĀ kids to do their homework and for the family to gather for meals. Seating is also available around the kitchen island.
There are two sinks with pull-down faucets, one for cleanup, and one for prep.
Countertop space is doubled by leaving a little space in between and building out the moldings.
