The designer of this kitchen had her original vision for the color scheme from a magazine ad that featured warm golden yellows and a very rich French blue. These two colors are tied together in several different ways.

The window coverings are very simple and chic with big blue and yellow stripes. Other patterns with these colors are incorporated in the banquette seating and cushions and the mudroom bench. The blue and yellow color combination plays with the natural light and creates a warm, friendly atmosphere.

A new trend in today’s kitchens is a somewhat unfitted look, with cabinetry in different colors and finishes. This kitchen features three different cabinet colors, finishes and styles. Wood with a dark cherry finish encases the refrigerator, which makes it resemble a large armoire. A lighter, warmer tone is used for some of the cabinetry around the kitchen walls. Two or three pieces use cream and canvas colors. The overall effect is a feeling of cabinetry that was accumulated over the years rather than just popped into a new kind of kitchen.
