If you have large windows or sliding glass doors and are looking for an alternative to curtains, vertical window blinds provide a versatile solution. They are available in a wide variety of materials and styles and blend in well with virtually any decor, and they also work well with small and medium windows. Like vinyl horizontal blinds, vinyl vertical blinds (also referred to as plastic or PVC verticals) are energy efficient, durable, easy to clean and very affordable. Manufacturers of vinyl vertical blinds include Bali, Levelor and Graber.
Bali Foundations Blinds feature a basic smooth vane in six pale pastel colors and a choice of ceiling or wall brackets and left or right side controls or a cordless one touch wand. For an additional cost, you can add a premium hardwood cornice in lieu of a valance. Bali Americana verticals are similar but feature light textured vanes in white, sterling, toasted almond, khaki, butter and jet black colors and are priced slightly hired than the Foundations verticals.
Levolor sells Classic Flat and S-Curved blinds. The Classic Flat verticals come in seven pale pastel colors and a choice of ceiling or wall brackets and left or right side controls or a cordless AutoWand. For an additional cost, you can add a Visions Faux Wood valance, DesignLine fabric valance or a ShadowLine double or staggered tier valance. Levelor’s S-Curved verticals come in Plaza, Tactics and West Coast product lines which have similar features but come in different textures and colors. Yet another option is the Levolor Visions Faux Wood Vertical Blind which comes in six simulated wood stains.
Graber Vinyl Vertical Blinds have embossed vinyl louvers that simulate fabric and include the Super-Vue headrail and a 3 1/2″ PVC valance. The Cachet line comes in white, ivory, satin white, misty gray, alabaster and tan colors, while the Decatur line comes in gray ice, oyster, mocha and storm textures. Graber verticals are a more expensive option than either the Bali or Levelor verticals.
