Renovated Southern California Coastal Home

This renovated Southern California coastal home had good bones, but the ocean was not in view as you walked into the space. The design goal was to open up the space and give a better view of the showstopper, the ocean. All of the materials were left quiet with sand and beach tones, including the limestone fireplace and the Belgium hardwood white oak floor. The nano wall creates an indoor-outdoor feeling; automated screens provide privacy. A clever extra-long island table can be extended to seat 20 people in the front kitchen, which has a printed limestone backsplash, open iron shelving, and the major appliances; the back kitchen has the ovens, warming drawer, coffee machine and storage areas. A sunken atrium was converted into the dining room, with the floor brought up to keep it at the same level of the house. Skylights brighten the room, and the blue grass cloth wall treament brings the ocean into the space. The principal bedroom has a neutral, cozy and comfortable vibe. In the ensuite bath, the existing vanity has resurfaced cabinets and new countertops, a freestanding tub, and updated windows. Shagreen looking tile, stunning pendant lighting, and a floating vanity and mirror create a stunning powder room. Take the tour in this HouzzTV video:
