How to Light a Gas Fireplace

Nothing can bring warmth and comfort to your home quite like a fire. Compared to a woodburning fireplace, a gas fireplace makes enjoying a fire simple and easy. Learn how to light a gas fireplace in this video by The Home Depot:

You will need a gas valve key and a lighter.

1. If your fireplace has a screen or cover,open it first.

2. Open the flue or vent.

3. For some fireplaces, you have to use the key to light it and turn it off. Turn on the gas valve (you should be able to hear the hiss of the gas), then use the lighter to light the fireplace. Use the key to control the height of the flames.

4. Use the key to turn the gas valve off (make sure to turn it all the way off).
