Easy DIY Patio

This easy DIY patio can be built with just a few simple steps, creating an outdoor oasis that you can enjoy all summer long. Learn how to build a paver patio in this Better Homes and Gardens video:

1. Mark layout with mason line and stakes.

2. Remove 8 inches of sod and dirt.

3. Slope dirt away from house.

4. Use tamper to compact dirt.

5. Lay out landscaping fabric.

6. Add 6 inches limestone paver base.

7. Rake to even out.

8. Lightly wet paver base using garden hose.

9. Use tamper to compact.

10. Lay two lengths of 1-inch pipe over area.

11. Spread 1 inch of leveling sand on paver base.

12. Slide 2×4 over pipes to level sand.

13. Remove pipes and fill in gaps with sand. Repeat.

14. Start laying pavers at edge closest to house.

15. Continue laying pavers.

16. Pour polymeric jointing sand on top of pavers. Sweep into joints.

17. Use tamper to pack down sand into cracks.

18. Remove excess sand using leaf blower.

19. Lightly water with hose to set jointing sand.
