Maximalist Designer’s 1930’s Home

Thes maximalist designer’s 1930’s home is filled with layers of color, pattern and accessories. The decison was made not to open up the space but keep the original detailing and the walls which hold beautiful artwork. Bright red walls, blue wainscoting and bold wallpaper in the vestibule set the tone for the rest of the home. The cozy living room has a wood-burning fireplace, two large sofas, extra chairs and green and white drapery that carries through to the dining room. A honed marble backsplash, shelving and countertops make a statement in the small modern kitchen. The family room has a gas fireplace, green built-ins, green-shaded light fixtures and a massive couch perfect for TV viewing. A handpainted black-and-white accent wall is the showstopper in the bathroom, while black architectural molding and a rosewood double dresser add a touch of New York chic to the master bedroom.
