Dual Purpose Loft Makeover

This loft is a combined living-working space with original floors, high ceilings and painted brick, but with its sparse furnishings, it felt unfinished and not welcoming. It needed storage, comfortable furniture, a desk and a feature wall that could act as a focal point in the room. See the details of this dual purpose loft makeover in this House & Home video:

The nook behind the couch was the perfect spot for an accent wall. A peel-and-stick oversized dramatic Rubens mural provides the backdrop for the rest of the furnishings, which include a comfortable white sofa and colorful pillows, a blue patterned rug, an accent chair, matte black coffee table with a smoky black top, a slim black desk with a glass shelf that mimics a sofa table, a dresser with a reversible board that has art on one side and a blackboard on the other, and a sleek black media unit that matches the desk and is flanked by faux ficus trees. While the end result is a really comfortable space where they can have friends over, it’s also sophisticated enough to receive clients.
