How to Create a Coordinated Color Palette
Color has a real effect on people’s moods and feelings and is a great design tool for infusing happiness into a home or calming down a space. Designer Marie Burgos shows how to create a coordinated color palette in this HouzzTV video:
Space #1: The living room design starts with a large piece of art which defines the color palette. Leather furniture adds warmth and balances the predominant cool gray of the rug and sectional; yellow pillows add a touch of playfulness.
Space #2: The guest bedroom in this loft is a inviting retreat with a luxurious feel. Cowhide wallpaper in a dark brown, a leather chair, and a cream-colored rug add warmth to this space.
Space #3: This master bedroom is a bright and happy space with a blue color palette defined by the whimsical artwork over the bed.
Space #4: This family room was designed to be both elegant and appealing to all family members. While the walls are light, the sofas are a more practical deep blue in an easy-to-clean fabric. Yellow drapery and cushions add a fun vibe. The patterned accent chair and ottoman combines the wall and sofa colors.
Space #5: An accent wall covered in a gold embossed patterned wallpaper grounds this high-ceilinged master bedroom. The gold accents continue in the nightstand hardware and the black and gold tables. A light blue sofa adds a cozy feel.
