Dramatic Kitchen Remodel

The dated kitchen in this century-old home was not only closed off but also had a laundry area in the middle of the space. See the details of this dramatic kitchen remodel, as well the new laundry nook, in this HouzzTV video:

A large chunk of the walls was removed to make room for an island, and the laundry space was relocated. There is beautiful Carrara marble on the island and, for prep purposes, more practical soapstone on the perimeter countertops. The new cream-colored backsplash has a mixed flush and relief arabesque pattern, and the updated sink area has one large sink, a matter black faucet with brass trim, double roll-out windows, and flanking brass sconces. Brass accents continue in the floor-to-ceiling white cabinetry with minimalist brass pulls and large brass fixtures over the island. A salvaged butler’s pantry painted to match the existing taller pantry serves as a bar and china cabinet.

Square footage was taken from the guest bedroom to create a new laundry nook which features a hexagonal white and black backsplash, stacked washer/dryer, sink and upper and lower cabinetry. The adjacent stairwell was hand-painted in black and white to create a runner pattern.
