Three Ways to Propagate Succulents
Succulents are come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors and are low maintenance plants. Best of all, they’re easy to propagate from the plants you already have. Learn three ways to propagate succulents in this Better Homes and Gardens video:
Leaf Cutting
1. Cut off a leaf using a sharp clean knife and place it in perlite. A cutting will root in a few weeks.
2. Once rooted, transfer cutting to a pot with succulent potting mix.
3. Water just enough to keep the soil damp.
Stem Cutting
1. Cut a minimum of two sections at node.
2. Set cuttings aside for 5-7 days so the cut end can callous before planting.
3. Place in succulent potting mix.
4. Water just enough to keep the soil damp.
Pups
Some succulent varieties grow smaller versions (pups) of the parent plant.
1. Remove the pup by gently pulling it away from the parent plant.
2. Place in succulent potting mix.
3. Water just enough to keep the soil damp.
