LEED Platinum Certified Modern Home
When it comes to design, homeowners assume there will be trade-offs between energy efficiency and aesthetics. This LEED Platinum Certified modern home in San Francisco, however, received its rating without indulging in any of the cliches of energy-efficient design. Vertically designed on a 25 ft x 75 ft lot, this home has about five stories including the roof deck. The garage level leads up through a tunnel into the main courtyard. Kitchen, dining and living areas are on the third floor, and the master bedroom is on the fourth floor. The stairs have a steel frame that support the tread which is boxed out in dark-finished oak, with channels holding the glass. Expansive front windows provide panoramic views of the city. Polycarbonate side panels allow light to come in while providing insulation and privacy. Take the tour in this HouzzTV video:
