How to Build a Grapevine Arbor

A grapevine arbor is a great way for beginners to experiment with grape growing and adds shade and vertical interest to a garden. Learn how to build a grapevine arbor in this HGTV video:



1. Dig footers for two posts two feet deep.

2. Install two 10-foot 4×4 posts and fill footers with soil.

3. Attach an 8-foot 2×6 board to the posts ausing 6-inch lag bolts.

4. Add a horizontal trellis every 10 inches.

Plant vines near the posts. Young vines need a good amount of water. As vines grow, continue carefully tying them to the arbor with twine.
