Nontraditional Kitchen Renovation

The homeowner, a collector of vintage furniture and beautiful art, wanted to make her dated kitchen look like an natural extension of the rest of the home. See the details of this nontraditional kitchen renovation in this House & Home video:

The remodeled kitchen has a black and white palette with natural materials and hints of wood that warm up the space. There is open shelving in leiu of upper cabinetry; the black lower cabinets have black hardware and soapstone countertops. An integrated soapstone sink with beautiful veining on the front adds visual interest. Glazed white subway tile backsplash runs up to the ceiling and also encloses the range hood. The doors and drawer front salvaged from a vintage Indonesian rosewood armoire serve as the front for the modern pantry.
