European Inspired Bistro-Style Kitchen
The main floor in this home has a grand feeling with its high ceilings and a bank of windows, but the kitchen was sandwiched into a corner. A creative redesign put the space to much better use. See the features of this European inspired bistro-style kitchen and adjacent sitting room in this House & Home video:
The renovated kitchen was built around the stunning black Lacanche French range, which is paired with a custom hood. To make the range wall the highlight in the kitchen, there is no upper cabinetry. Storage is provided by two free standing dark blue cabinets on the opposite wall; one houses a fully stocked bar, and the other houses all of their dry goods, coffee and espresso maker. In between is a cozy banquette for everyday dining.
The existing sitting room was updated with new rugs and furniture and a new mantel painted black. Over the fireplace, the TV was replaced by artwork, and the TV was tucked into the end of the island.
Traditional Shaker cabinetry, four styles of hardware (un-lacquered brass and black pulls and black and brass round knobs), and white subway tile with dark grout gives this kitchen an Old World European feel.
Cedar boughs and eucalyptus branches add a final simple holiday touch.
