Bold Guest Bedroom and Bright Home Office
From an interior design standpoint, the bold guest bedroom and bright home office in the 2019 HGTV Urban Oasis are polar opposites. See the features in this HGTV video:
The most dramatic design element in the guest bedroom is the black paint color which is used not only on the walls but also on the ceiling and the trim. It makes the room feel a little bigger than it actually is; since all the surfaces are painted the same color, you don’t really notice where one surface stops and another begins. The other huge touch of drama is the oversized and avant-garde light fixture. There’s a low-slung Danish modern bed with black and gray bedding and a chunky knit blanket that serves as art and softens up the space.
In contrast, the home office has a casual creative vibe. While the wall and the trim are all painted white, there’s a surprise on the ceiling with a really bold splash of pink. To break up all the white and pink, there’s a distressed wooden desk with open shelving on its front. A pair of shaggy blush chairs in front of the desk add rich texture. Artwork is displayed on the walls and on ledges. There’s also a patchwork rug that brings in a bohemian vibe and a Scandinavian-style armoire which is great for holding clothes and craft supplies.
Next door is a light and bright guest bathroom with a modern farmhouse vibe. A glass-enclosed shower and matte black fixtures add a sophisticated edge.
